Sullivan Claims Region XV Title with Win over Orange

Generals in their first year at the NJCAA DII level get to hang a banner...

LOCH SHELDRAKE, N.Y. - Sullivan was able to survive two dogfights this past weekend and hung on to win their first Regional title at the NJCAA DII level. After a tough battle vs. Ulster CC on Saturday the Generals had to turn around and bring the same fight on Sunday. The 83-73 win over geographical rival Orange CC was much closer then the 10 point margin of victory would indicate. 

Once again Sullivan's depth and tenacity in the paint on both the offensive and defensive end made the difference. Two of the biggest influencers in the final outcome didn't necessarily fill the stat sheet with monster numbers but to the casual observer it was quite obvious that their impact was huge. Sophomore Forward Khuvon Daniel came up with two huge baskets when Orange was creeping back into the game and Sophomore Forward/Center Arafat Shaibu notched 7 points but his 11 rebounds and 5 blocks seem to come at all the right moments.

Kendall Robinson continued with his hot hand netting 16 points while All-Tournament selection Kevin Smith and tourney MVP Darius Lee each had 15 points. Jamarr Joseph with another solid effort off the bench scoring 13 points while grabbing 6 rebounds. With the win Sullivan improves to 22-7 and will head to District play this weekend at Erie CC in Buffalo, NY where they will take on Niagara CCC at 3pm on Saturday.
