Sullivan Men's Basketball Wins Region XV Championship

Generals Down Orange CC, 77-66

Loch Sheldrake, NY- Sullivan Generals claimed their second consecutive NJCAA DII Region XV Championship on Sunday (3/1) when they downed the #2 Orange CC Colts, 77-66.  The Sullivan Generals are ranked #2 in the country with an overall record of 26-2 after the weekend.  Sullivan was in for a battle from the jump with Orange delivering the first blow and remaining on top throughout the first half; Generals went into halftime down, 38-37.  The second half would be an uphill fight for the Generals but their adjustments ultimately proved effective in the long run, getting the win 77-66.  The Generals shot 55% from the field and 33% from three.  Three separate Generals finished with 15+ points for the game.

Darius Lee (Tournament MVP) made 11 of his 14 shots (79%) to finish with 28 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.  Kendall Robinson (All-Tournament Team) had 18 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals.  Jasiah Lewis (All-Tournament Team) ended with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.  Khayri Dawson chipped in with 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and 1 point.  Other scoring came from J.Drain (7); J.Reneau (6); and J.Galloway (2).

Orange CC was led by Zayne Watson (All-Tournament Team) who finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.  Mitch Kernizan (All-Tournament Team) added 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.  Avery Clagett chipped in with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Sullivan Generals are back in action Saturday (3/7) at 2pm when they host Region 19 Champion, Erie CC, in the semifinals of the NJCAA DII East A/B District Championships.  Sullivan CC is hosting the District Championships in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.
