Generals Sweep Final Series of Regular Season

Wins over Westchester give Generals the #2 seed...

VALHALLA, N.Y.- On a day where the Generals postseason status was undetermined the Sullivan bats found a way for them to secure a postseason slot and eventually the #2 seed for the upcoming Mid-Hudson Conference Tournament.

Four hits from Brandon Maravi paved the way to victory for Sullivan over Westchester CC by the score of 19-9 on Tuesday. Maravi singled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the third, and homered in the eighth.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Sullivan collected 18 hits and Westchester CC had 12.

Westchester got things started in the first inning with an unearned run.

After the Generals scored one run in the top of the sixth, Westchester CC answered with one of their own. Sullivan scored when Jean Paul Compres singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Westchester then answered when Chris Cipriano singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Sullivan pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Devin Edwards singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, Jon Minotti drew a walk, scoring one run, Giovanni Diaz grounded out, scoring one run, and Maravi doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

The Generals tallied six runs in the ninth inning. The offensive onslaught came from walks by Elijah ErvinJustin Mateo, Minotti, and Maravi, a single by Edwards, and a double by Bryan De Aza.

Joshua Perez-Rosa earned the victory on the mound.. He allowed eight hits and six runs over six innings, striking out three. Daniel Rodriguez and Paul Villar entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Sullivan Generals tallied 18 hits in the game. Maravi, Edwards, Compres, Ervin, De Aza, and Pedro Abreu each racked up multiple hits for Sullivan Generals . Maravi went 4-for-7 at the plate to lead Sullivan Generals in hits.

In game two, with both teams already in, it was more of a matter of who would host on Thursday. With the 9-1 Generals win, they secured that fortune. 

Sullivan got on the board in the first inning when Compres singled, scoring one run. The Generals would go on to notch three runs in the third inning. Sullivan Generals offense in the inning was led by Edwards, Elijah Ervin, and Compres, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Jordan Kazen was credited with the victory for Sullivan Generals . He went three innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out four and walking one. Emmanuel Zarzabal threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Compres went 2-for-2 at the plate as Sullivan finishes the regular season 21-21 (10-10).
