Generals Drop Series Opener with Falcons

Dutchess pulls away late to win 8-3...

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - A quality start by Freshman RHP Jordan Kazen wasn't enough as the Dutchess Falcons were able to pull away late with five runs from the 6th inning on to defeat the Generals 8-3.

Sullivan was able to grab an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first as leadoff hitter Giovanni Diaz would hit the first pitch of the game for a booming double to CF and would later come around to score on a passed ball. 

Dutchess would answer with a three run 3rd inning but Sullivan would fight back with back-to-back RBI doubles by Devin Edwards and Diaz to knot the score at 3-3 in the top half of the 5th inning. 

The Falcons would add what proved to be the go-ahead run in the 6th followed by two apiece in the 7th and 8th to put the game out of reach.

Game two is scheduled for 6:30pm Friday at Dutchess Stadium. With the loss Sullivan drops to 13-16 (2-7 MHC) while Dutchess improves to 8-8 (5-4 MHC).
