Sullivan Sweeps Season Opening Doubleheader from Kingsborough

Generals pitching dominant with 28 strikeouts over two games...

BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The much awaited baseball season kicked off this past Saturday as the Generals traveled to Kingsborough CC for a doubleheader. Sullivan's pitching set the tone as they consistently worked ahead in the count and force the Wave's hitters into weak contact or strikeouts. The Generals would take Game 1 by the score of 11-5 and hung on in Game two with a 7-4 victory to start the season 2-0. 

In game one the story was Freshman RHP Jordan Kazen who went 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 0 earned runs while striking out 9 and walking none. The offense was paced by Freshman SS Giovanni Diaz who collected three hits while scoring three runs and driving in two. Sophomore 1B Bryan De Aza announced his presence with some load contact on the day crushing a triple to left-center and driving in two. Sophomore DH Pedro Abreu and Freshman utility player Justin Mateo each drove in three runs.

Freshman LHP Pablo Campusano had an impressive outing in the 7th inning, striking out the side. 

In Game two the pitching again set the tone with Freshman RHP Steven Colon striking out 12 in 5 innings. Sophomore reliever Danny Rodriguez battled the last two innings to secure the save. Diaz continued with a hot bat, smoking a double and and scoring 2 while also driving in two. De Aza would add a long double and a RBI. 

Up next for the Generals is a single 9 inning contest Tuesday at NJCAA DI Monroe College in New Rochelle, NY.
