Generals Win First Game at the NJCAA Division II Level

Sullivans survives later Mercer CC run to secure season opening win...

Loch Sheldrake, NY - It was a day of several firsts for the Sullivan Women's Basketball program. Not only was it the 2018-2019 season opener but today's home game vs. Mercer CC was the first contest at the NJCAA DII level. As part of the inaugural SUNY Sullivan Classic, the Generals held a commanding lead from early on in the first quarter keeping a 20 point cushion throughout the majority of the second half. A late fourth quarter run by Mercer would test the Generals but Sullivan would hang on to win 60-55.

Leading the way for Sullivan was Traynise Delaney (Bronx, NY, Holcombe L. Rucker) who scored 17 points, going 8-for-10 from the foul line. Jayda Allen (Brooklyn, NY, South Shore) collected a team high 13 boards while scoring 10.  Jade Walls (Central Islip, NY, Central Islip) added 11 while grabbing 10 rebounds.

Tylisha Livingston scored a team high 16 for Mercer CC, who drops to 0-1 on the season. 

Up next for the Generals (1-0) will be a 3pm matchup tomorrow vs. Raritan Valley CC.
