Sullivan Dominant in Season Opening Victory

Strong debut at the NJCAA DII level...



Loch Sheldrake, NY - The debut for Men's Basketball at the NJCAA DII level was a successful one as they controlled the rebounding game and spread out their scoring to defeat Mercer CC by the score of 96-65. The Generals out rebounded the Vikings 64-18 and 12 players found their way into the scoring column as they move to 1-0. 

Freshman guard Ty Rivers (Brooklyn, NY, Monsignor Scanlan High School) put forth a strong effort shooting 9-for-11 from the floor with a total of 23 points. Rivers also grabbed 10 rebounds to help the cause. Sophomore Arafat Shaibu (Queens, NY, Academy of American Studies) added 10 points and 14 rebounds and was force in the paint all night while Sophomore guard Kevin Smith (New Haven, CT, Putnam Science Academy) notched 17 points, knocking down three of five attempts from behind the arc. 

Up next for Sullivan in the SUNY Sullivan Classic is a 5pm tilt vs. Raritan Valley tomorrow.
