1/24/2026 [Long Island City, NY] - SUNY Sullivan Generals Men's Basketball were on the road Saturday to face Region XV opponent, the LaGuardia Community College Red Hawks. The Generals were able to out last the Red Hawks for the win, 84-80, improving their record to 8-12 overall and 7-8 in Region XV. Â
In the first half SUNY Sullivan lost the battle to LaGuardia CC; going into halftime down 8 points, 28-36. The second half was a comeback for the Generals, who were able to outscore the Red Hawks by 12 in the half [56-44] to secure to overall victory by 4 points, 84-80.
SUNY Sullivan saw a combined effort with four Generals scoring in double figures.Â
Hassan Niang led the way hitting 7 threes and ending with a game high 32 points.Â
Tomas Hernandez added 15 points,
David Fowler chipped in with 12 points, and
Quentin Richardson finished with 11 points and 5 assists. The rest of the Generals scoring came from
Sincere Henderson with 9 points and 6 assists, J.Reich (3), and X.Beckford (2).
The home team, LaGuardia CC Red Hawks were led by Djeri Sangare who finished with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. Charlie Hall added to the effort with a team high 26 points, Lorenzo Santino added 12 points while Chase McCray dished out 10 assists to go along with his 6 points.
The SUNY Sullivan Generals travel to SUNY Orange on Thursday (1/29) to face the Broncos in a make up game from a first semester snow out. The game is at 7pm at SUNY Orange.
