Sullivan Generals Go 1-1 in the Philly Classic

Fall to #20 Niagara CC and Beat Herkimer CC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Herkimer, NY (1/7-1/8/2023) - The Sullivan Generals played in the Philly Classic hosted by Herkimer CC over the weekend.  The Lady Generals went 1-1 with a loss on Saturday and a win on Sunday.  On Saturday, the Generals fell to the #20 ranked Niagara CC, 51-64.  On Sunday, the Generals were able to bounce back with a 76-65 win over Herkimer CC.

On Saturday the Generals played their first game after the semester break and struggled to get things going early; Niagara CC was able to come out and get a 31-8 lead after the first quarter.  The Generals won the next three quarters looking to come back but ended up not being able to over come the deficit and fell by thirteen in the end, 51-64.  

The Sullivan Generals Women were led by double-double from Deivejon Harris with 24 points and 14 rebounds.  Brieanna Maple added in 11 points and 5 rebounds.  The rest of the scoring came from B.Bruno (7), T.Hubbard (4), M.Calliste (3), and T.Maxwell (2).

On Sunday the Lady Generals were able to bounce back with a eleven point win over Herkimer CC, 76-65.  The first quarter was an even match ending, 22-22; things changed in the second quarter with Sullivan outscoring Herkimer, 20-11, going into the half up nine: 42-33.  Herkimer came out of the half aggressively and cut into Sullivan's led by winning the third quarter 12-14, yet that didn't last long as Sullivan against outscored Herkimer in the fourth, 22-18.  In the end the Sullivan Generals earned the win, 76-65.

Sullivan had two go for double-doubles: Deivejon Harris ended with a 24 point and 22 rebound day while Mei-Lin Calliste went for 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Brieanna Maple chipped in 12 points while the rest of the scoring came from: K.Williams (8), M.Bryant (6), B.Bruno (5), T.Maxwell (4), and H.Peck (2).

Herkimer was led by a double-double from Ajla Sejdic with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Kapri Bradshaw went for 18 points, Hinano Imamura had 15 points, and Jenna Faulkner ended with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

The Sullivan Generals are now 9-4 on the year and are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Rockville, MD to play Howard CC.
