Herkimer, NY (1/7-1/8/2023) - The #8 ranked Sullivan Generals played in the Philly Classic hosted by Herkimer CC over the weekend. The Generals went 1-1 with a loss on Saturday and a bounce back win on Sunday. On Saturday, the Generals fell to the #2 ranked Niagara Community College, 77-65. On Sunday, the Generals were able to bounce back with a win over the #2 ranked team at the D3 level Herkimer CC, 77-69. Â
On Saturday the Generals played their first game of 2023 against the #2 ranked Niagara CC. Sullivan struggled to hit shots (going 2-16 from three) and dwent under 50% from the free throw line (11-24), ultimately falling to the Thunder Wolves, 77-65. On Sunday it was a different story with the Generals hitting 6 threes and getting the win, 77-69.
The #8 Sullivan Generals were led by a team high 21 points from
Jay Alvarez. Kipp Richvine added in 10 points. The rest of the scoring came from J.Minto (9), N.Kane (8), N.Pounder (5), J.Currie (4), T.Bryant (4), M.Touray (2), and C.Gallon (2). Â
Niagara was led by Aaron Miller with a double-double, 12 points and 11 rebounds. Lamar Lovelace went for a team high 21 points.
On Sunday the Generals were led by
Jay Alvarez with 23 points. Cam Gallon went for 16 points and
Jair Currie had 11 points. The rest of the scoring came from T.Bryant (6), K.Richvine (6), J.Minto (6), M.Touray (4), K.Tracey (3), and N.Kane (2).
Herkimer was led by a double-double from Zyeir Lawrence with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Dante Griffin ended with 19 points.
The Sullivan Generals are now 11-3 on the year and are back in action on Saturday when they play in the MLK Classic at Monroe College.
