Sullivan Generals Go 2-0 in Darius Lee Memorial Classic

Beat CCBC Dundalk & CC of Morris

Loch Sheldrake, NY (1/27/2023 & 1/28/2023) - SUNY Sullivan Athletics put on the inaugural Darius Lee Memorial Classic this past weekend.  The Generals went 2-0 with wins over CCBC Dundalk on Friday, 82-55, and then Community College of Morris, 88-70, on Sunday. 

Darius Lee was an outstanding student-athlete at SUNY Sullivan.  He was quick to smile, well-mannered, and humble.  While pursuing an Associate Degree in Sport Management, Darius was a vital player on our Men's Basketball team from 2018-2020. 

On Saturday, the #13 ranked Sullivan Generals played CCBC Dundalk and earned the win 82-55.  Sullivan was in control throughout the whole game and led 39-21 at half time; in the second half they outscored Dundalk, 43-34.  The 82-55 win moves the Generals to 15-5 on the year.

Sullivan had two individuals go for double-doubles in the win: Jay Alvarez and Mohammed Touray.  Jay Alvarez finished the game with a team high 23 points and 19 rebounds as well as 4 assists.  Mohammed Touray ended with 11 points and 10 rebounds with 3 assists and 2 steals.  Kipp Richvine went for 11 points; Jair Currie added in 10 points and 6 assists.  Naquan Pounder grabbed 11 rebounds to go with 6 points.  The rest of the scoring came from K.Tracey (7), J.Minto (6), K.Dinkins (5), and N.Kane (3).

On Sunday, the #13 ranked Sullivan Generals beat the Community College of Morris, 88-70.  Sullivan battled early with Morris and went into the half up five, 42-37.  In the second half Sullivan was able to add to their lead and take control of the game, winning the half 46-33.  #13 Sullivan ended with a 88-70 win over CC of Morris and move to 16-5 on the year.

Sullivan General Mohammed Touray finished the game wih a double-double, going for 12 points and 17 rebounds.  Jay Alvarez ended with a team high 23 points and 9 rebounds.  Jair Currie went for 18 points and dished out 9 assists.  Naquan Pounder ended with 10 points and 7 rebounds.  The rest of the scoring came from C.Gallon (8), K.Tracey (6), J.Minto (3), K.Dinkins (3), and K.Richvine (5).
