#9 Sullivan Generals Go 1 and 1 in the MLK Classic

Beat Erie CC and then Fell to #12 [D1] Monroe College

| Box Score 2 New Rochelle, NY (1/14-1/15/2023) - The #9 ranked Sullivan Generals played in the MLK Classic hosted by Division I Monroe College over the weekend.  The Generals went 1-1 with a win on Saturday and a loss on Sunday.  On Saturday, the Generals beat Erie Community College, 84-70.  On Sunday, the Generals fell to the #12 ranked team at the D1 level Monroe College, 94-72.  

On Saturday the #9 ranked Sullivan Generals earned a 14 point win over Erie Community College.  Sullivan and Erie were tied at 39-39 going into half.  The second half was a very different story with the Generals scoring 49 and holding Erie to 31.  The 84-70 win over Erie CC moved the Generals to 12-3 on the year.

The #9 Sullivan Generals were led by a team high 29 points from Jay Alvarez to go along with 8 rebounds.  Kayson Dinkins finished with 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.  The rest of the Generals scoring came from K.Tracey (8), T.Bryant (8), K.Richvine (8), J.Curry (8), C.Gallon (6), J.Minto (4), and M.Touray (2).

Erie CC was led by A'Mag Tate and Nicholas O'Neil going for 13 points, apiece, and Nathan Severson had 10 points.

On Sunday the #9 Sullivan Generals played the MLK Classic host school Monroe College.  Monroe College is currently the #12 ranked team at the NJCAA Division I level and came out hot and got up early in the first half; as the half came to a close the Generals showed some life and cut the lead to 6 with minutes until halftime.  Monroe was able to score a few quick buckets to end the half; the Generals went into the half down twelve, 51-39.  The second half was a very similar to the first and the Generals struggled to cut into the lead and lost the game, 94-72.

The Generals were led by Jair Curry going for 10 points.  The rest of the Generals scoring came from C.Gallon (9), N.Kane (9), K.Richvine (8), K.Tracey (8), J.Alvarez (7), T.Bryant (7), M.Touray (5), J.Minto (4), K.Dinkins (3), and N.Pounder (2).

Monroe College was led by a five in double digits: Keith Warren Jr. (19), Ziare Wells (17), Tyje Kelton (16), Hamdel Mohammed (13), and Melvin Council Jr. (13).

The Sullivan Generals are now 12-4 on the year and are back in action on Thursday when they play at Raritan Valley Community College.
