Danville, IL (3/19/2022) - [Third Place Game of NJCAA DII Men's Basketball National Tournament] The #3 seed Sullivan Generals fell to the #4 seeded Des Moines Area Community College (IA), 87-76. The Sullivan Generals finish as the #4 team at the NJCAA Divison II level with a record of 28-5.
The Generals struggled in the first half and were down fifteen points at halftime, 32-47. In the second half Sullivan was able to cut it to four points but couldn't get over that two possession hump and fell to DMACC in the end, 87-76. Des Moines Area Community College (IA) took 3rd place and Sullivan County Community College took 4th place at the NJCAA DII National Tournament.
Sullivan had three Generals score double figures.
Kareem Welch led the way with a game high scoring 32 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
Jalen Reneau went for 17 points and Sam DeSouza went for 14 points and 5 rebounds. The rest of the Generals scoring came from D.Jackson (9), J.Alvarez (2), and K.Tracey (2).
Des Moines Area Community College (IA) was led by Jordan Graves with 15 points. Allen Udemadu went for 14 points, Goanar Biliew had 13 points, Noah Parcher added 10 points, and Greg Brown finsihed with 10 points.
The Sullivan Generals end their season with a record of 28-5 and as the 4th place team in the country.
Kareem Welch was named to the NJCAA DII National All-Tournament Team and Sam DeSouza was named the 2022 NJCAA DII National Tournament Sportsman of the Year.
