#3 Generals go Undefeated in the Tip Off Classic

Down Essex CC and Raritan Valley CC to go 2-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Loch Sheldrake, NY- The #3 ranked Sullivan Generals Men's basketball team opened their season this past weekend hosting the Tip Off Classic.  The Generals faced off against Essex Community College on Saturday (11/5) and then Raritan Valley CC Golden Lions on Sunday (11/6).  In both match-ups the Generals were able to secure wins and moved to 2-0 on the 2022-23 season.

On Saturday, the Generals opened their 2022-23 season with an 23 point victory over Essex Community College, winning 80-57.  Sullivan jumped out to an early lead going up 9-0 in the first few minutes; Essex was able to battle back and get it to five at halftime, 35-30.  The Generals again jumped out to an early lead in the second half and this time they didn't give in, Sullivan won the second half 45-27 to end the game with a 80-57 win over Essex CC.  Jay Alvarez led the way with a game high 26 points, going 11-18 from the field and 3-8 from downtown, Alvarez also grabbed 7 rebounds.  Kipp Richvine scored in double figures with 12 points to go along with 6 assists and 4 rebounds.  Cam Gallon and Jalen Minto both chipped in 9 points apiece, Cam grabbed 7 rebounds while Jalen had 4 rebounds.  Mohammed Touray pulled down 8 rebounds to go along with 6 points and point guard KeSean Tracey dished out 6 assists and scored 3 points.  Other Generals scoring came from N.Kane (4), S.Takyi (4), K.Dinkins (3), T.Bryant (2), and B.Harris (2)

Essex Community College was led by P.Dodard with 20 points; K.Kirk went for a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds; and K.Butler chipped in 13 points of his own.  

On Sunday the Generals knocked off the Golden Lions from Raritan Valley Community College, winning 98-75.  Sullivan and Raritan battled back and forth in the first half with each team going on big runs, at half the score was 42-35 with the Generals up seven.  In the second half the Generals were able to extend their lead and secure a 98-75 victory.  Jay Alvarez led all with a game high 25 points to go along with 9 rebounds, 3 block, 2 assists, and 2 steals.  Kipp Richvine went for 15 points with 5 assists and 4 rebounds, Cam Gallon added his own 15 points and 7 rebounds.  Mohammed Touray grabbed 9 rebounds and had 12 points with 2 assists.  KeSean Tracey and TK Bryant both added 11 points each while Tracey chipped in 5 assists as well.  The rest of the scoring came from N.Kane (5), J.Minto (2), and N.Pounder (2).

Raritan Valley CC was led by D.Dextraze with a 20 point and 10 rebound double-double.  D.Strand went for a team high 21 points.

The preseason #3 ranked, Sullivan Generals are now 2-0 on the year and will be in action again on Thursday (11/10) when they host, 3-0 Lackawanna College (from PA).  Tip off is at 7:00pm in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.
