Loch Sheldrake, NY- The Sullivan Generals opened their season at home in the Tip Off Classic.  Saturday (11/5) the Generals took on the Wolverines of Essex Community College and Sunday (11/6) they played the Golden Lions of Raritan Valley Community College.  Sullivan split over the weekend, losing to Essex and beating RVCC, moving to 1-1 on the season.  The Generals fell 49-65 to Essex CC on Saturday and bounced back for a 63-43 win over Raritan Valley CC on Sunday.

On Saturday the Sullivan Women's Basketball team opened their 2022-23 season with a tough loss, 49-65, to Essex CC.  Sullivan struggled to shake off the rust from preseason and had a tough night scoring.  The Generals were led by Brieanna Maple with a team high 16 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 assists.  Mei-Lin Calliste recorded her first double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds while Deivejon Harris added in 12 points and 5 rebound. The rest of the scoring came from M.Bryant (4), K.Williams (3), B.Bruno (2), and T.Hubbard (2).

Essex was led by a 18 point, 12 rebound, double-double by N.Lucca.  C.Cassidy chipped in 18 points of her own and J.Smith added 12 points.

On Sunday, the rust was gone and Sullivan was firing on all cylinders.  The Generals handed RVCC a 63-43 loss and moved to 1-1 on the year.  The Lady Generals were led by Deivejon Harris who had a game high in both points and rebounds with a massive 24 point and 21 rebound double-double.  Brieanna Maple added in 13 points and 4 steals while Barbara Bruno had 9 points with 13 rebounds.  Mei-Lin Calliste chipped in with 8 points and 11 rebounds while the rest of the scoring came from K.Williams (6), M.Bryant (2), and T.Hubbard (1).

RVCC was led by K.Thomas with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.  A.Mia Marti added in her own 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The Sullivan Generals are 1-1 to start the season and head to the SUNY Adirondack on Tuesday (11/8) to face off with the Timberwolves at 5pm.
