Loch Sheldrake, NY - The #2 ranked Sullivan Generals began Mid-Hudson Conference/Region XV play this past Thursday when they hosted the Ulster Senators. The Generals earned a 99-66 win; the win moves Sullivan to 6-0 on the year. Â
The Generals came out slower than past games and were in a dog fight for the first 8 minutes of the game. Things started clicking for the Generals around the 7:45 mark in the first half, at that point it was the defense that changed the game and Sullivan was able to seperate themsleves from the Senators. By the half Sullivan was able to gather an eleven point lead going into the locker room up 41-30. The second half was a very different story with Ulster having no answer for the Generals offense, in the second half Ulster was outscored by twenty-two points, 58-36. In the end the #2 Generals earned a 99-66 win and improved to 6-0 on the 2022-23 campaign.
Sullivan's Jay Alvarez had a career night, scoring a game high 36 points, Alvarez went 14-23 (61%) from the field and hit 4-7 (57%) from downtown, Jay also recorded 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Kipp Richvine added in 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists in the win. Nayshon Hamlett-Kane went for 12 points 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Mohammed Touray grabbed a team high 10 rebounds to go along with his 7 points; the rest of the Generals scoring came from J.Currie (6), C.Gallon (5), K.Dinkins (5), J.Minto (3), K.Tracey (2), T.Bryant (2), and N.Pounder (2).
The Ulster Senators were led by Justin Green with 15 points, AJ Piedra with 14 points, and Youssouf Sissako with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Ulster falls to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.
The #2 Sullivan Generals head to Albany, NY on Tuesday (11/22) to play Bryant & Stratton College. Tuesday's game is the last for the Generals before their mini break for the Thanksgiving holiday.
