Loch Sheldrake, NY- SUNY Sullivan opens the basketball season hosting the 4th annual Sullivan Tip-Off Classic in the Bunker at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.  This event is sponsored by Rolling V Bus Corp.  With 4 teams and 8 college basketball games the 2 days should be full of excitement, fun, and high level college basketball.

The Men's and Women's Basketball teams are entering their fourth seasons at the Division 2 level and are looking to build on the successes from last few years.  The 2021-22 season saw the Women's teams winning the Conference and Regional XV Championship and the Men's team making it to the National Tournament (4th place finish) after winning their conference, Region XV Championship, and District A Championship.  The 2022-2023 season brings with it new expectations and opportunities for each team to build their own identities and legacies.

Sullivan's Men team has been Nationally Ranked in the Coaches' Pre-Season polls at #3.  They open the weekend facing Essex County College on Saturday at 5pm and face off with Raritan Valley Community College on Sunday at 5pm.  The Men's team is led by returning sophomore's Jay Alvarez, Cam Gallon, Jalen Minto, and KeSean Tracey.  They have also added multiple sophomore transfers as well as some incoming freshman.  Coach Wilson is excited about his group and the potential they have shown in the pre-season.

Sullivan's Lady Generals start the season on Saturday at 3pm against Essex CC and follow up with a Sunday game against Raritan Valley CC at 3pm.  The Lady Generals will look very different with half of the team being new girls and the other half being returning players: Rose Bare, Malaysia Brant, Barbara Bruno, Daphney Cadichon, Seraiah Dawson, Deivejon Harris, and Alivia Latham.  Coach Newburgh is excited for the season to start and see how his team matches up with opponents.
