Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 New Rochelle, NY (1/15/22 & 1/16/22)- The #8 nationally ranked Sullivan Generals traveled to New Rochelle, NY over the weekend to participate in the MLK Classic hosted by the Monroe College Mustangs.  The Generals were paired up against district opponent Erie Community College Kats on Saturday and then NJCAA D1 Monroe College Mustangs on Sunday.  The Generals went 1-1 over the weekend moving to 11-3 on the year.  Sullivan was able to beat Erie on Saturday, 83-71; yet fell to Monroe by three, 86-83, on Sunday.

On Saturday (1/15) the Sullivan Generals faced off with the Erie CC; the Generals were able to handle the Kats and win the game, 83-71. Sullivan came out battling and were able to go into halftime up 7 points, 51-44.  The second half was very similar with Sullivan winning the half by 5 points, 32-27; extending the overall lead to 12 points and winning the game 83-71.  The Sullivan Generals were led by a game high 34 points from Kareem Welch who also recorded 7 assists and 6 rebounds.  Jalen Reneau added 18 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds in the win.  Jalen Minto went for 17 points and 6 rebounds, hitting a perfect 3 for 3 from downtown. Jarell White chipped in with 12 points and 7 rebounds of his own while J.Alvarez rounded out the Generals scoring with 2 points.  Erie CC was led by Joshua Denis who finished with 23 points, Justin Morety who recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and William Tavares del Brito who recorded 16 rebound to go along with 8 points.

On Sunday (1/16) The Generals faced off with the host of the MLK Classic, the Monroe College Mustang of the NJCAA Division 1 level.  Sullivan took control of the game early in the first half and were able to go into halftime up five, 40-35.  The second half proved to be more of a battle with the lead changing hands three times.  Sullivan struggled to contain Monroe's offense down the stretch and the Mustangs were able to outscored the Generals 51-43 in the second half.  Monroe College was able to ultimately win over Sullivan by three points, 86-83.  The Generals were led by Jalen Reneau and Jarell White who both went for 21 points.  Jalen Reneau finished with 21 points hitting 4 threes.  Jarell White had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Kareem Welch ended with 19 points and 7 rebounds while KeSean Tracey dished out 7 assist to go along with 2 points.  The remaining of the scoring came from J.Minto (9), S.DeSousa (7), and J.Alvarez (4).  Monroe was led by a game high 35 points from Melvin Council Jr and double-double from Nikola Danicic with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Isac Ahnstrand added 14 points while Tyje Kelton chipped in 11 points.

The #8 Sullivan Generals are now 11-3 on the year.  Sullivan is back in action Thursday when they head to Raritan Valley CC to face the #18 ranked RVCC Lions.  The Lions are responsible for the Generals first lost back in November.
