Box Score 2 New Rochelle, NY (1/15/22 & 1/16/22)- The Sullivan Generals Women's Basketball team were in New Rochelle, NY over the weekend for the MLK Classic hosted by D1 Monroe College. The #19 ranked Generals faced off with the #4 nationally ranked team (at the NJCAA D3 level) Monroe College-Bronx Express on Saturday. Then on Sunday they were matched against NJCAA D1 Monroe College Mustangs. Sullivan was able to secure the win on Saturday, 68-41, but then fell by five, 58-63, on Sunday; for their first loss of the season. The #19 Generals are 14-1 on the 2021-22 season.
On Saturday (1/15) the Sullivan Generals took care of business against Monroe College-Bronx winning the game 68-41. Monroe College-Bronx are the #4 nationally ranked team at the NJCAA D3 level. The Generals started off slow but were still able to take the lead after the first quarter, 12-8. In the second quarter Sullivan outscored Monroe Express 20-13 extending their lead to eleven points; Sullivan was up 32-21 going into the half. The Generals extended their lead to 50-28 after three quarters, by winning the third 18-7. Sullivan was able to win the last quarter 18-13, to extend the gap to a 68-41 win. Sullivan'sÂ
Deivejon Harris recorded another double-double with a game high 24 points and 17 rebounds.Â
Kelsey Morgans chipped in with 11 points and 4 assists while
Barbara Bruno added 8 points and 7 assists. The rest of the Generals scoring came from A.Perry (8), L.Drain (8), G.Jeridore (5), M.Bryant (2), and A.Latham (2).Â
On Sunday (1/16) The Generals faced off with the MLK Classic host Monroe College. The NJCAA D1 Mustangs were able to hand Sullivan their first loss of the 2021-22 season, winning the game by five, 63-58. This snaps a 38-game win streak for the Sullivan Generals and is their first loss since November 25, 2019 when the Generals fell to another NJCAA D1 opponent, Harcum College. The game was back and forth throughout, starting with Sullivan winning the first quarter 13-10. The second quarter was a different stroy with Monroe winning 25-15 to take a seven point lead into halftime, up 35-28. Monroe College continued to extend their lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Generals 16-12. The score was 51-40 to start the fourth with Monroe ahead, Sullivan came out with a response winning the quarter 18-12. The late game rally just wasn't enough and SUNY Sullivan fell to Monroe College by five, 63-58. With the loss the #19 Sullivan Generals move to 14-1 on the year.
The #19 Sullivan Generals are back in action on Thursday; the Generals will travel to NJ to play Raritan Valley Communtiy College.
