Box Score Scranton, PA (1/13/2022)- The #8 ranked Sullivan Generals Men's Basketball traveled to Lackawanna College for their first game in over a month. The Generals were able to pick up right where they left off securing a commanding victory, 104-66. This is the Generals 10th win of the year, moving them to 10-2 overall.
Sullivan came out strong and needed no time to shake off the rust from a month long break in play, the Generals jumped out to an early lead and were up 22 by halftime, 59-37. The second half wasn't much different with the Generals outscoring Lackawanna 45-29 and winning the game by 38 points, 104-66. The Sullivan Generals saw three different guys go for 20+ points: guards
Jay Alvarez (28pts),
Kareem Welch (23pts), and
Jalen Reneau (21pts). Sullivan was led by a game high 28 points from
Jay Alvarez who also recorded 9 rebounds and 3 assists.Â
Kareem Welch recorded 23 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals will shooting an impressive 77% from the floor.Â
Jalen Reneau wasn't far behind with 23 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals on 70% shooting.Â
Sam DeSouza added another 15 points and 7 rebounds while the rest of the scoring came from C.Gallon (6), K.Ouedraogo (4), K.Tracey (3), J.Minto (2), and Z.Barnes (2).
Lackawanna College was led by David Pope with 19 points and Will Johnson who scored 12 points.
The win pushes the #8 ranked Sullivan Generals to 10-2 on the year. Sullivan is back in action this weekend in the MLK Classic, hosted by the NJCAA Division 1 Monroe College Mustangs in New Rochelle, NY. Sullivan will face off with district opponent Erie CC on Saturday and the D1 host, Monroe College on Sunday.
