Herkimer, NY (1/13/2022)- The #19 ranked Sullivan Generals Women's Basketball secure an overtime win at Herkimer Community College, 78-71. The Sullivan Generals were on the road facing the Herkimer CC Generals who are nationally ranked #17, at the NJCAA D3 level. Sullivan was able to overcome a 10 point halftime deficit and tie the game at the end of regulation pushing an overtime. At the end of overtime Sullivan was victorious over Herkimer with a 78-71 win. The #19 nationally ranked Sullivan Generals move to 13-0 on the year.
Herkimer CC came out of the gates aggressive, taking an early 17-5 lead after the first quarter. Sullivan was able to respond, winning the second quarter 20-18; cutting into Herkimer's overall lead. At the half Sullivan went into the locker room down 10. After the half Sullivan came out on a mission outscoring Herkimer 27-10; this run put Sullivan up seven after three quarters, 52-45. Herkimer would not go away easily and responded in the fourth quarter with a 22-15 run over Sullivan to tie the game at 67-67 at the end of regulation. Sullivan was able to squash the Herkimer run in overtime with defense, allowing only 4 points by Herkimer and winning overtime 11-4, and the overall game 78-71.Â
The win pushes the #19 ranked Sullivan Generals to 13-0 on the year. Sullivan is back in action this weekend in the MLK Classic, hosted by the Monroe College Mustangs in New Rochelle, NY. Sullivan will face off with Monroe College-Express on Saturday and the D1 host, Monroe College on Sunday.
