Loch Sheldrake, NY- The 2020 NJCAA DII East A District Champions are your Sullivan Generals! The Generals beat the Essex Wolverines in the East A District Championship held at Sullivan CCC on Sunday (3/8). Both Essex and Sullivan had secured their spot at the National Tournament with wins on Saturday (3/7) yet they were playing for both an East A District Championship and seeding opportunities at the National tournament. The Generals shot 43% from the floor and 25% from three while holding Essex to 38% from the floor and 29% from three. For the third time this season the Generals were able to take care of the Wolverines, this time by the smallest margin, 76-70.
Sullivan was led by freshman
Jordan Drain, coming off the bench and finishing with a double-double.Â
Jordan Drain went 7-8 from the field and 8-10 from the foul line to end with 23 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Darius Lee finished with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in the win.Â
Jasiah Lewis went for 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.Â
Kendall Robinson had 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.Â
Jalen Reneau chipped in 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Â
Essex's Etnik Peci had a game high 24 points. J.Robinson added 14 points and W.Borwn chipped in another 12 points.
The Sullivan Generals are the Mid-Hudson Conference Champions; Region XV Champions; and East A District Champions. Their season will continue next week when they head to Danville, IL for the 2020 NJCAA DII National Championships. The Generals will learn their tournament seeding, opponent, and game time on Tuesday (3/10) at 2pm when the NJCAA DII selection show airs on NJCAA TV:Â
