BROOKLYN, NY - The 2020 Sullivan Generals baseball season kicked off this past Sunday with a doubleheader sweep of Kingsborough CC by the scores of 14-0 and 9-5.
In game one starting pitcher
Julian Minaya (1-0) went 5 dominant innings striking out eight while only allowing two hits and walking two. Sullivan jumped out to an early lead behind a bases clearing double by
Jeremia Bueno that gave Sullivan a 3-0 after one inning.
The game was put out of reach in the 4th as the Generals tacked on seven runs to extend the lead to 12-0 before adding another two in the 5th to finalize the day.
In game two starter and winning pitcher
Jordan Kazen (1-0) went 3 innings allowing no earned runs and one hit. Right-handed pitchers
Enyer Joaquin, Josh Perez and
Giovanni Diaz combined to strike out 7 over the final three innings of play.
The General offense made the most of their seven hits on the day with five of them for extra bases, including a double and triple by
Assaf Lowengart and triples by
Giovanni Diaz and
Yorby Vilomar. Sophomore outfielder
Jeremie Goyer went deep for his first homerun of the season.
With the wins Sullivan improved to 2-0 on the year and will take on Monroe College on Tuesday March 10th.
