Loch Sheldrake, NY- SUNY Sullivan hosted the NJCAA Wrestling Eastern A District Championships over the weekend and two Generals will be headed to the National Tournament.  The 2020 NJCAA National Wrestling Tournament will be held March 6-7 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Liam Bullock (125lbs) and Nick Glanville (133lbs) made the qualifcations and will be represtenting Sullivan General Wrestling at Nationals in Iowa.

Nick Glanville secured a bid to the 2020 NJCAA Wrestling National Tournament by placing 3rd in his weight class (133lbs) at the District Championships.  Nick Glanville opened the day facing off with Ulster's Bryan MacDougall who ended up beating Glanville in a 4-2 decision.  Nick had to fight an uphill battle after dropping his first match but was able to get a technical fall (winning by 15 points) over Josh McCoy from Niagara CC.  The next match was the 3rd place match with the winner automatically qualifying for the National Tournament.  In what proved to be pulled right from a Hollywood script it was a rematch of Round 1 between Nick Glanville and Bryan MacDougall (Ulster) with a National Bid on the line.  Glanville came out with vengeance and was able to get the rematch to secure a victory by decision 7-5.  Nick Glanville will be representing Sullivan Generals Wrestling in the 133lbs weight class at the 2020 NJCAA National Wrestling Championships.

Liam Bullock went the longer route to earn a bid to Nationals.  Liam started the daywith a tech fall win, 18-3, over So Murata of Jamestown CC.  In round 2 Liam Bullock was paired against Jacob Bell of Niagara CC; Bell was able to get the by decision win over Bullock, 9-8.  Liam Bullock's third round was against Mercyhurst NorthEast's Dylan Pesock; Liam battled to get a fall win over Pesock and advance to the 3rd Place Match.  Third place match had Liam Bullock opposite Gavin Pasqualini of Ulster and came right down to a 12-7 decision, with Pasqualini getting the win and automatic bid to Nationals and Liam finishing in 4th Place.  Each District has a set number of 'Wild Card' bids awarded to individuals, voted on by the District coaches.  These wild card bids are provided to those who didn't place in their weight class but are identified and voted on by the District coaches.  The Eastern A District has eleven weight classes and only 7 Wild Card bids.  After the coaches meeting it was announced that Liam Bullock had been seleted as one of the seven to earn a wild card bid to Nationals.  Liam Bullock will be representing Sullivan Generals Wrestling in the 125lbs weight class at the 2020 NJCAA National Wrestling Championships.
