Box Score 2 Herkimer, NY- The #10 ranked SUNY Sullivan Generals Men's Basketball program opened 2020 and their second semester of play with two big wins. This past weekend the Generals traveled to Herkimer CC to participate in the Philly Classic where they took on Niagara County CC and Monroe County CC. In two tough battles the Generals were able to endure and win both down the stretch, moving to 13-2 on the season.
Saturday (1/11) was a matchup of two NJCAA D2 Top Ten teams with the #10 Generals taking on #3 Thunder wolves of Niagara County. The game proved to be a back and forth battle of division opponents with Sullivan edging out Niagara by 1 in the final seconds, 79-78.
Jasiah Lewis and
Darius Lee had big nights to help the Generals get the win; Jasiah led scoring with 20 points and chipped in 7 rebounds and 6 assists while Darius recorded his 3rd double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Jordan Drain threw in another 14 points and 6 rebounds and
Jalen Reneau went for 9 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Other scoring came from K.Robinson (8); J.Galloway (7); and T.Holley (2).
On Sunday (1/12) the Generals took on the Tribunes from Monroe CC in a noon game. This game proved to be another great matchup with multiple lead changes and things coming right down to the end with the Generals prevailing 82-74. Freshman
Jordan Drain led in scoring with 23 points, matching his career high for the third time this season. Jasiah Lee recorded his first double-double at Sullivan going for an impressive 11 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Darius Lee followed up with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists; while
Kendall Robinson went for 12 and 8 on the afternoon, hitting big 3s down the stretch. Other scoring came from J.Reneau (5); T.Holley (5); T.Cannady (3); and J.Galloway (2).
The Sullivan Generals move to 13-2 overall this season. They are back in action this weekend when they travel to Monroe CC to take on Jamestown CC on Saturday and face Monroe CC in a rematch on Sunday.
