Robinson Double-Doubles Again to Lead Generals over Westchester 73-70

Generals Extend Winning Streak to Nine Games

VALHALLA, N.Y. - Kendall Robinson (Bellport, NY, Bellport High School) recorded his seventh double-double in eight games to lead the SUNY Sullivan men's basketball team to a come from behind 73-70 victory over Westchester Community College Thursday night.
Robinson scored 17 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead a balanced Generals attack that featured four players scoring in double digits. Darius Lee (Harlem, NY, Saint Raymond High School) led the Generals with 19 points, while Kevin Smith (New Haven, CT, Putnam Science Academy) and Tyiek Rivers (Brooklyn, NY, Monsignor Scanlan High School) each scored 11 points.

The Generals were down as many as 12 points in the first half, but cut that deficit to nine, heading into the half down 38-29.

However, the Generals got to the free throw line early and often in the second half and made the most of their opportunities, converting on 11 free throws to help cut the lead while stingy defense led the way for a huge second half comeback. The Generals held Westchester to just 24% shooting from the field in the second half and outscored the Vikings 44-32 in the second frame.

A block by Smith with just over 6:00 left in the game led to a fast break opportunity and a Rivers layup to give the Generals the lead for good.

The Generals improved their record to 18-5 overall and 7-0 in conference play, and increased their win streak to nine games, while the Vikings dropped to 15-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

The men are in action again this Saturday as they head to Manor College. Tip-off is scheduled for  6:00 p.m.
