Generals Drop Home Opener

Loch Sheldrake, NY- The long awaited home opener did not go Sullivan's way in what was the nicest weather day of the year for the Generals. A 1-1 game in the 5th inning was broke open by a 5-run top half of the inning, highlighted by a Dutchess grand slam to make the score 6-1. With the score 7-3 entering the ninth, the Falcons put a 4 spot to seal the game. Fr RHP Bryant Gomez (Bronx, NY, Kingsbridge International) drops to 1-2 on the year despite a gutsy effort keeping the Generals within striking distance. Gomez went 8 innings allowing 12, 7 R, 6 ER, 4 K, 4 BB. 

Offensively FR 1B/3B Bryan De Aza (Bronx, NY, Cardinal Hayes) continued to swing a hot bat going 2-for-2 with a 2B, RBI and 2 BB. FR INF Pedro Abreu (Bronx, NY, Santa Teresa (D.R.) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and sophomore outfielders Cain Ruiz (West Hempstead, NY, Valley Stream) and Manny Nova (Bronx, NY, All Hallows) both doubled. Ruiz also walked and scored two runs.

Sullivan falls to 4-9 (0-4 MHC) while Dutchess improves to 6-5 (4-1 MHC). The series continues Saturday evening with a 6pm doubleheader at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, NY.
