Generals Ground Hawks at Home

Delaney's Ssecond Straight Game of 36 Points Leads Sullivan

Loch Sheldrake, NY - Stingy defense helped the SUNY Sullivan women's basketball team overcome a poor shooting night Tuesday, as the Generals easily beat Rockland Community College 90-42.

Rockland would get on the board first with a 3 pointer by Rockland Guard Danielle McManus. McManus would end up scoring 25 points on the day for the Hawks. Sullivan would respond with a Traynise Delaney steal and layup with 6:00 left in the 1st quarter to help break up the Generals 1-for-12 shooting to start the game.

Sullivan would then start to apply the pressure with back-to-back steals off inbounds passes to give them a 12-3 lead at the 3:44 mark of the 1st quarter. Anjali Sebastian would get the Hawks within 12-8 with a 3-pointer but that would be as close as Rockland would get on the for the rest of the game as Sullivan finished the the first frame on a 10-0 run.

A host of fast break points and short range shots allowed Sullivan to cruise into halftime with a 53-11 lead.

Delaney would add two more 3 point shots early in the 3rd quarter and Sullivan enjoyed an easy second half with plenty of playing time to go around. Delaney would notch her second straight 36 point game. Jayda Allen and Jade Walls would both add 11 points while Jordan Meaurie Pickett would add 10 points to round out the double digit scoring.

The Generals improved to 7-3 overall (2-0 MHC) on the year while the Hawks dropped to 1-6 (1-2 MHC) overall. Sullivan's Thursday night game at Ulster has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances on their campus. No makeup date has been set.
