MIDDLETOWN, N.Y- The final game of the semester for Sullivan proved to be one of momentum swings with the Generals being on the short end of the stick as the buzzer sounded in their 49-48 loss to Orange CC Tuesday night. With the loss the Generals drop to 9-6 (2-1 MHC) while Orange improves to 11-3 (3-0 MHC).
Orange would jump out to 7-0 lead after 3 minutes played in the 1st quarter. A 12-3 run put Sullivan up 12-9 with 2:41 left in the first. Sullivan would hold the reins in the 2n quarter taking a 27-24 lead into the half.
The second half featured back and forth action that lead to a 38-38 tie heading to the 4th. With 3:15 left in the game Camille Honromaras hit 1-of-2 free throws to give Sullivan a 47-43 lead but the Generals would only get one more point as Orange took a 49-48 lead with less then a minute left. With the ball and time running out the Colts forced a turnover with 5 seconds left to seal the game.
Leading the way for Sullivan was
Traynise Delaney with 18 points.
Freshman Guard Traynise Delaney (Bronx, NY, Holcombe L. Rucker) leads the Generals in scoring at the semester break.
The Generals return to action on January 15th in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse as they have a rematch with NJCAA DI Monroe College. Sullivan was defeated by Monroe this past Saturday by the score of 65-46 in New Rochelle, NY.
